Great to catch up with Dr. Derek Lemoine when he was passing through Sewanee this week. Derek is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. He is also a member of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) Climate Change Research and Policy Network. His areas of expertise include environmental and energy economics, climate change, technological change and decision-making under uncertainty and over time. While a student at Sewanee, Derek worked with me to develop a GIS tool that allowed us to analyze timber industry compliance with sustainability standards on the Cumberland Plateau. We published the results of this work in the Journal of Forestry in 2006.
