Honorary Guests at Garden Club of America Annual Mtg

Jon Evans and his students, JT Michel c’24 and Keegan Congleton c’25 were invited by the scholarship committee of the Garden Club of America to be honorary guests at their annual meeting held in Nashville this year.   Keegan was recently awarded the GCA Hunt Scholarship in Field Botany to conduct research with Jon this summer.  He will be joining a team of students from both Sewanee and Tennessee State University examining old-growth forest dynamics on the Cumberland Plateau as part of a three-year research grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  Last year, JT Michel was the recipient of the GCA Hunt Scholarship and Oliver Hutchens c’23 was awarded the GCA Keller Scholarship in Conservation that has led to his current employment by the Atlanta Botanical Garden as a technician in their conservation science program.
